Durmishi in Istanbul: North Macedonia is a reliable partner and attractive investment destination for Turkish companies

Skopje, 12 June 2026

The Minister of Economy and Labor, Besar Durmishi, addressed the North Macedonia - Turkey Business Forum today, where he emphasized the Government's commitment to creating a predictable, competitive and investment-oriented business environment, aimed at encouraging new investments, economic growth and deepening economic cooperation between the two countries.

In his address, Minister Durmishi emphasized that the Republic of Turkiye is one of the most important economic partners of North Macedonia, with trade exchange continuously growing, and Turkish companies have played a significant role as investors, employers and partners in the development of the Macedonian economy for decades.

"North Macedonia is open to new investments and new partnerships. We offer a stable macroeconomic policy, a strategic geographical position, access to regional markets, a qualified workforce and strong institutional support for investors. More importantly, we offer a partnership based on trust and long-term cooperation," stressed Minister Durmishi.

He pointed out that the Ministry of Economy and Labor is actively working to support domestic and foreign investors through multiple strategic policies and instruments, with a special focus on the development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, which represent a pillar of the Macedonian economy.

Enterprise support programs provide financial and technical assistance for the modernization of production, introduction of new technologies, digitalization, increasing competitiveness and internationalization of companies. Special attention is paid to innovative companies, startups and family businesses as drivers of new jobs and economic growth.

The Minister emphasized that through the Law on Financial Support for Investments, the Government provides support for companies that invest in new production capacities, create new jobs, introduce modern technologies, increase exports and invest in human capital.

At the same time, Durmishi informed that the Government is working on a new generation of industrial policies aimed at the green transition of the economy, whereby the Law on Green Industrial Zones will create a modern framework for attracting investments with high added value, clean technologies, energy efficiency and sustainable production.

The Tetovo Industrial Zone, which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Economy and Labor and offers excellent conditions for companies from the manufacturing, logistics and technology sectors, thanks to its strategic position, proximity to regional markets and transport corridors, as well as the availability of qualified labor, was highlighted as a significant potential for new investments.

"Our vision is for industrial zones to grow into centers of modern production, innovation and regional economic cooperation. I am convinced that today's forum will open new opportunities for connecting companies, implementing joint projects and further deepening economic relations between North Macedonia and Turkiye," said Minister Durmishi.

The forum was attended by senior government officials from North Macedonia and Turkiye, representatives of the chambers of commerce, the business community, investors and entrepreneurs from both countries.
