“SDSM once again spreads lies and misinformation. The inspectors from the State Labor Inspectorate have no reason to worry!”, stated the Minister of Economy and Labor, Besar Durmishi, on his Facebook page, in response to SDSM’s accusations that the inspectors from the State Labor Inspectorate are working illegally.
In accordance with the amendments to the Law on Inspection Supervision, Ministries are required, within three months from the date of the law’s entry into force, to assume the rights and obligations through the transfer of the Inspectorates.
Additionally, pursuant to Article 8 of the Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Law on Inspection Supervision ("Official Gazette of the Republic of North Macedonia" No. 22/25), they are transferred to the Ministries under which they will continue to work. In this case, all inspectors from the State Labor Inspectorate, in accordance with the Decision on the Transfer of Employees by Law, were deregistered on February 28, 2025, and will be registered as employees of the Ministry of Economy and Labor as of March 1, 2025, meaning they have not had, and will not have, any interruption in their employment status.
As this is a large-scale process involving de-registrations that need to be processed per the cities, time is required. All data, including de-registrations and registrations, has been submitted to the Employment Agency of the Republic of North Macedonia, and the process has begun with de-registrations followed by individual registrations for each employee.
The inspectors from the State Labor Inspectorate were paid their salaries today for January 2025, while the salary for February will be paid within the legally prescribed deadline by March 15.
