The Minister of Economy and Labor Besar Durmishi to "Business Leader": The Government and the economy are partners in building a modern and sustainable economy

Skopje, 17.09.2025

The Minister of Economy and Labor Besar Durmishi to "Business Leader": The Government and the economy are partners in building a modern and sustainable economy.

The Minister of Economy and Labor, Besar Durmishi, today addressed as the guest of honor at the largest business conference in the country - "Business Leader", which unites the most successful entrepreneurs, visionaries and companies that move the Macedonian economy forward.

In his address, the Minister emphasized that this conference represents a symbol of the will, capacity and responsibility to strengthen the foundations of the economy and create a better future for citizens.

"Our vision is clear - for Macedonia to become a green, digital and innovative economy, with strong entrepreneurship and a culture of innovation in every company. Only through a partnership between the public and private sectors can we ensure stable growth, new jobs and a better standard of living for all citizens," said Durmishi.

He emphasized that the Government is already implementing reforms to improve the business environment, attract investments and create conditions for young people to build their future at home. The Ministry of Economy and Labor, with its expanded mission after the reorganization in 2024, is working to create new, well-paid jobs, support micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, stimulate investments and develop the labor market through training, internships and self-employment.

"Support for startups, investment in research and development, and the digitalization of public services are concrete steps towards creating a modern and competitive business environment. At the same time, the green transformation – from energy transition to renewable sources to the introduction of ecological practices – is our priority, because it represents both an obligation to future generations and a new opportunity for growth and competitiveness," emphasized the Minister.

He also referred to the new legal solutions and strategies, such as the Law on Financial Support for Investments, the new Laws on Technological-Industrial and Green Industrial Zones, as well as the Strategy for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises 2025–2030 and the Action Plan 2025–2027. Through them, the state is investing MKD4.23 billion in financial support, of which 1.77 billion are provided from the state budget.

He also placed special emphasis on the Operational Employment Plan for 2025, with a budget of MKD2.5 billion, which will cover over 16,000 citizens. "These policies stimulate entrepreneurship and create a competitive workforce that will respond to the demands of the modern economy," Durmishi emphasized.

The Minister also announced new measures in labor legislation - a new labor law that will enter into force on January 1, 2026, with the aim of reducing informal labor and increasing employability, especially among seasonal workers.

"The economy must be human and inclusive. Every new job, every startup and every investment in knowledge and technology is an investment in the future of our country. With every new measure to support companies and with every training cycle for young people, we confirm the vision that Macedonia is a place where every potential can be realized," the Minister stressed.

At the end of his address, Durmishi said that the economic policies and strategies that the Government is implementing are the result of teamwork and partnership with Chambers of Commerce, Universities, international partners and citizens. "Every success of a business leader is a success of the entire country. Together we are building an economy of the future - modern, sustainable and inclusive, for the benefit of current and future generations," concluded the Minister of Economy and Labor.
