The Minister of Economy and Labor of the Republic of North Macedonia held a working meeting with the Ambassador of the Swiss Confederation to the country, H.E. Christoph Sommer, at which the possibilities for deepening and promoting bilateral cooperation between the two countries were discussed.
The meeting focused on increasing trade, encouraging Swiss direct investment, and deepening cooperation in the area of ​​sustainable economic development and job creation.
The Minister noted that, despite the good political and diplomatic relations between the two countries, there is significant untapped potential for more intensive economic cooperation, especially in production, industry, innovation and the green economy. In that context, the importance of promoting the favorable business climate in North Macedonia and the opportunities offered by technological and industrial development zones was emphasized.
The interlocutors also referred to the significant role of Switzerland as one of the largest bilateral donors to the country, through support for reform processes, democratic governance, environmental protection, energy, water supply and economic development. The successful implementation of Swiss development programs, including those aimed at increasing employability, supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and organic agricultural production, was also emphasized.
The meeting also discussed the possibilities for organizing joint business forums, establishing stronger institutional and economic ties, as well as additional promotion of Macedonian export products and tourism potential on the Swiss market.
Both sides confirmed their joint commitment to further strengthening economic relations and deepening the partnership between the Republic of North Macedonia and the Swiss Confederation.
