The Minister of Economy and Labor Besar Durmishi, at the Parliamentary Questions Session, answered the question posed by the former Speaker of the Parliament, Talat Xhaferi. He said that since the beginning of his mandate as Minister, he had requested that the State Audit Office come and conduct a full audit of the functioning of the institution, in order to determine what was inherited from the past. In addition, he had initiated an internal audit of the functioning of the Ministry of Economy.
Regarding the issue of obtaining a license, Minister Durmishi said that he explained the entire procedure in detail. “I explained that the Ministry of Economy does not have the legal authority and mechanism to check whether the facility has a license or not, and even less to determine whether it is forged or not," said Durmishi.
Responding to MP Xhaferi's accusations, Minister Durmishi stressed that the attacks are not about seeking the truth, but about attempts to score political points at these moments.
"I know you want to give the impression that you are seeking the truth. But I want to make it clear to you: you and your party are not interested in the truth. You are interested in how to use every situation to make a fuss and gain some political advantage at the moment. This is not something new for the citizens - they are already used to you," emphasized Minister Durmishi.
He further addressed Xhaferi and other DUI representatives, saying that it was cynical for them to demand accountability, knowing that during their time, serious scandals occurred, such as the “Durmo Tours” case, “Besa Trans”, the modular hospital in Tetovo - and for none of these cases was anyone held accountable to the justice system.
Unlike those cases, now for the first time 34 people are facing justice for the tragedy," Durmishi concluded.
