The Minister of Economy and Labor, Besar Durmishi, met today with the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in the country, HE Matthew Lawson.
At the meeting were discussed the previous and current activities of the Ministry, as well as the cooperation and support of the British Embassy in our country.
Minister Durmishi said that the United Kingdom is one of our most important trade partners positioned at the 2nd place among the countries with which North Macedonia has the largest volume of trade. The trade exchange between the two countries shows continuous growth, and this is mostly due to the important British companies that work both in the free zones and outside them.
"It is pleasing to know that in 10 years the total foreign investments from the United Kingdom in the Republic of North Macedonia amount to EUR508.8 million, which makes the United Kingdom one of the largest investors. For us, as the Ministry of Economy and Labor, which responsibility is the working conditions of foreign investors, it is of great importance to work on improving the business climate, all in order to have more investments that will mean more employment and greater economic growth," said Minister Durmishi.
Minister Durmishi expressed gratitude for the support that North Macedonia continuously receives from the Government of the United Kingdom, primarily through support in reforms and in the development process on the way to full membership in the EU.
The two interlocutors agreed that they will work together to continue and intensify the trend of cooperation between the two countries in all areas, with the ultimate goal of acceleration of the process of North Macedonia's entry into the EU.
